In 2017, the Thomas Fire devastated Ojai Alisal with most of the Syrah and Malbec vines lost to the fire, all of which have since been replanted. In 2019, we had enough production from the surviving vines to co-ferment for this release. For the first time equal parts Syrah and Malbec, this deep ruby red wine shows dark fruit, tobacco and leather on the nose, and on the palate plums, black cherry, pepper, mushrooms and earth.

As with the 2016 vintage, we chose this year to co-ferment the Syrah and Mourvedre producing another amazing blend. Medium bodied with flavors of dark fruit, chocolate, and black pepper prevail with smooth tannins and a lingering finish.

In 2016 we harvested our Mourvedre for the first time, and we had small but excellent crops of both Syrah and Mourvedre harvested on the same day. We took a risk and decided to co-ferment both varietals and the results are amazing! Flavors of tart cherries, chewy red fruit, chocolate, coffee and a bit of pepper with beautiful rounded tannins and a long finish.

The 2015 is different than previous years! Richer and more intense. On the nose notes of dark fruit, jam, and a bit of smoke. And on the palate rich flavors with dried tart cherries, jammie red fruit and spice with hints of peppermint and licorice.
